It appears that the Samsung Galaxy Note II, the company's popular phablet, could soon receive an over-the-air Android 4.3 software update as Samsung service centres in India have reportedly got access to the new update.

An Indian user claims to have updated his Note II to Android 4.3 through a Samsung service centre, according to a report by SamMobile.

The report adds that the build number of the firmware update is N7100XXUEMJ9, with a build date marked as October 31, so it's likely that it's the final version of the update and it could soon be rolled out officially, over the air. The website has also published screenshots from the updated phone, which it claims to have received from the user.

The update will make the Galaxy Note II compatible with the Galaxy Gear smartwatch and also bring other updates including improved text input; updated graphics and multimedia; Samsung KNOX (only for selective countries); Smart Switch, for transferring content to Galaxy devices from other smartphones; HomeSync, for sharing and storing content, and Group Play 2.5.

The company had earlier stated in a press note that the Galaxy Gear smartwatch will be available for use with Samsung Galaxy S4, Samsung Galaxy S III and Samsung Galaxy Note II after the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update, which will be rolling out in phases.

Last week, Samsung had started rolling out the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean for its flagship smartphone of 2012, the Galaxy S III (GT-I9300). The South Korean major had skipped the Android 4.2 update for the Galaxy S III and the device was still running the dated Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean.

Earlier, a report had indicated that the Samsung Galaxy S4 and Galaxy Note II would also be upgraded to Android 4.3 Jelly Bean by year-end.

Samsung has set their deadlines for updating the current crop of Galaxy devices to Android 4.3, and so far we’ve already seen the Galaxy S III and the Galaxy S 4 already receiving the update. There’s just one device that hasn’t gotten any attention; the Galaxy Note II.
According to a lucky user in India, he managed to get his Note II updated to 4.3 at a local service station. This means that Samsung is busy loading the 4.3 update onto their services to prepare for an OTA rollout, which means international and unlocked users should see the update by the end of the month. On the carrier side of things, that also means that it’s very like that most carriers should hit their deadlines by the end of the month. AT&T and Sprint are slated for a November 20th rollout, with Verizon following on the 29th and T-Mobile right on their heels with a December 2nd update.
The update should bring a few extra features to the Note II, similar to what we’ve seen in the SIII update. Since it does have the S-Pen also, we may see a few features trickle down from the Note 3 as well.
